About Me
Hi! I’m John Park, a national show producer for Spectrum News. I specialize in writing, visual storytelling, audio & video production, social media management, and photography.
I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina with a keen interest in creating videos and taking photos. Building my skills from a young age, my first photos were published by the Associated Press in 2008. I pursued my interest in journalism and won a Suncoast Emmy for Technical Achievement in 2013 working alongside a team as we covered the Sinking of the USS Mohawk CGC off of Sanibel Island, Florida.
I applied myself at Appalachian State as a reporter, anchor, and producer for AppTV. This programming helped inform rural communities in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Our award-winning team covered local issues in the high country, national elections, and remotely covered the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, I used my skills at NBC 5 Chicago’s Sales Department as an intern in 2019 to write, pitch, shoot, edit, and deliver high-quality commercials across a variety of platforms to reach the greater Chicagoland area.
I graduated in August of 2020 with a 3.25 GPA and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Communication, Electronic Media & Broadcasting and a minor in political science. Shortly after receiving my diploma, I joined Spectrum News 1 Kentucky in Louisville. Over the course of two years I covered events like the Killing of Breonna Taylor, Western Kentucky Tornado Outbreak, Eastern Kentucky Flooding, and Kentucky Derby.
In January of 2023 I joined the Spectrum News National team in St. Petersburg, Florida as a content producer handling logistics and content for our stations across the country. In August I was promoted as the dayside news producer for Spectrum’s national programming on OTT platforms and special reports on stations in more than ten states. I focus on rundown creation, special coverage production, and breaking news.
